Sometimes, we can find new space in a house without needing to build an addition. Such was the case with this stunner.

We raised the roof on an existing underutilized garage and the resulting space feels part of the original house. A narrow center island provides storage and common work space, and doubles as the family’s eat-in kitchen table. The old galley kitchen, with an existing side door entry, was easily converted to a well-appointed mudroom.
